About this experience
A day designed to be understood, not just visited.
The program starts with a live demonstration of climbing a coconut palm to harvest mature coconuts.
From there the group follows the whole traditional process: grating, pressing fresh coconut milk, and simmering it over an open fire until the natural golden oil separates out.
Guided by local residents, participants help strain and finish the oil, and take home a bottle they made themselves, usable as a natural moisturiser or for cooking.
What to expect
The day, step by step
Harvest demonstration
Watch a local climber harvest mature coconuts from the palm.
Grate & press
Open the coconuts, grate the flesh, and press fresh coconut milk by hand.
Simmer over open fire
Reduce the milk over a wood fire until the golden oil separates.
Strain, bottle & take home
Filter and finish the oil, then bottle your own to take with you.
Sustainability impact
Nothing wasted from one coconut
The traditional process uses the whole fruit: oil from the milk, residue for cooking or animal feed, husk and shell for fuel and craft.
The program pays the household hosting it directly, keeping a traditional skill economically worth practising.
Any program can be combined with a CSR or community-support component, matched to what the host village actually needs at the time of your visit.
