About this experience

A day designed to be understood, not just visited.

A sensory journey through a herbal garden alongside a Balian Usada, a practitioner of traditional Balinese medicine.

Participants pick and identify herbs growing in the garden, learn their properties and how they are traditionally prepared, then blend a tisane from what they just harvested.

The session closes with everyone tasting their own blend and comparing notes.

What to expect

The day, step by step

  1. Garden walk with the Balian Usada

Identify herbs in the garden and hear how each is traditionally used.

  2. Harvest

Pick your own herbs, with guidance on which parts to take and how much.

  3. Blending session

Compose your own Balinese tisane at the blending table, guided by the practitioner.

  4. Taste & close

Brew and drink your blend together, with a closing Q&A.

Sustainability impact

Knowledge worth keeping

Traditional herbal knowledge in Bali is held by a shrinking number of practitioners. Paying for the time to teach it properly is the point of this program.

Harvesting is capped and rotated across the garden so plants recover between groups.

Any program can be combined with a CSR or community-support component, matched to what the host village actually needs at the time of your visit.
